Job Requirements of Registered Nurse - Permanent Full Time - Surgical Services:
QUALIFICIATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:
- Current certificate of registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Must be compliant with College of Nurses quality assurance standards
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.)
- Current ACLS and PALS Certification
- Excellent clinical, decision making and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal, written, communication and organizational skills
- OR and PACU Certification
- 1-2 years current OR/PACU experience
- Experience in assisting with Endoscopy
- Proficient with IV starts/phlebotomy
- Ability to adapt to change in a fast paced working environment
- Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking and problem solving skills to ensure positive patient outcomes
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, communication skills necessary to promote positive interdisciplinary team dynamics is an asset
ASSESTS
- Bilingual - English and French
- Fluency in both English & French
- CSAO Course is an asset
- Canadian Perioperative Nursing Certification is an asset

Our dedicated team serves a diverse catchment area, including Midland, Penetanguishene, Township of Tiny, Township of Tay, Christian Island, Georgian Bay Township, and Springwater Township. The Registered Nurse in Surgical Services works collaboratively as a member of the health care team. The RN will possess the theoretical knowledge and technical skills required to work in the peri-operative setting. The RN provides direct patient care to patients based on the three-factor framework as outlined in the College of Nurses of Ontario standard, RN and RPN Practice: The Client, Nurse and the Environment. These three factors have an impact on decision making related to care-provider assignment as well as the need for consultation and collaboration among care providers.
