Job Requirements of Security Guard - Permanent Casual:
QUALIFICIATIONS
- A valid Ontario Security License and current First Aid/CPR certification
- College Diploma or University Degree in Security or equivalent certification
- Must possess a valid G driver’s license or access to reliable transportation to meet job requirements
- Experience working in security, ideally in a healthcare setting, and a proven record of reliability and strong work performance
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and analytical skills, along with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving
- Ability to remain confident and composed in high-pressure situations and exhibiting professionalism at all times
- Familiarity with the Mental Health Act and Trespassing Act is an asset, as well as experience using mechanical restraints
ASSEST
- Ontario Incident Management Course certification or willingness to complete it within the first three months
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety or a willingness to complete within the first three months. Cost would be covered by the employee with eligible as an GBGH to apply for reimbursement through our education fund.
- Experience with complex security technology and access control systems
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset in our diverse community

We are seeking a dedicated and professional security officer to join our team, where your expertise will be valued, and your role will make a real impact. If you have a passion for safety, strong interpersonal skills, and enjoy providing customer service, this is an opportunity to contribute to a healthcare environment that respects and supports your profession.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of everyone at GBGH, as well as safeguarding hospital assets and property. Your daily tasks will include monitoring the hospital grounds, patrolling in-patient areas, access control, responding to emergencies, and working with key community partners such as OPP, EMS, FIRE, CNCC, and Waypoint. This will also include working in partnership with funeral homes to process and manage our morgue. Responding to off-site locations will also be required, and the use of your personal vehicle is necessary. In addition to ensuring safety, you will provide supportive service to patients and visitors, offering guidance as needed to foster a welcoming atmosphere at GBGH. As part of our team, you will help us live our purpose of We Make Excellent Care Personal.
